Day 1: Gateway to the Plateau – Chengdu to Kangding (2,700m)

  • Morning: Meet your Tibetan guide and driver at your Chengdu hotel. Depart early for the scenic drive west. You’ll traverse the fertile Sichuan Basin, soon entering the dramatic G318 Sichuan-Tibet Highway. Witness the landscape transform as you pass through long tunnels and wind alongside rivers, ascending into the foothills of the Hengduan Mountains.

  • Afternoon: Arrive in Kangding, the historic trading town and capital of Garze Prefecture. The roar of the rushing Zheduo River divides the town. Check into your hotel and take a gentle stroll to begin acclimatization. Feel the crisp, thin air.

Day 2: Acclimatization & Culture – Kangding Exploration

Day 4: Alpine Wonders – Ascend to Upper Riwoche (4,350m)

  • Trekking: 9km, 4-5 hours, +570m ascent.

Day 5: Over the Pass – Riwoche Pass (4,850m) to Moxi Valley (4,100m)

  • Morning: The most challenging and rewarding day. A sustained climb on switchback trails leads to the Riwoche Pass. Pace yourself.

  • At the Pass: The effort is rewarded with a 360-degree Himalayan panorama. Prayer flags snap in the wind. To the north, you'll likely see a stunning glacial tarn. This is a moment for celebration and reflection.

  • Afternoon: Descend into the lush, U-shaped Moxi Valley. The trail is long but the changing scenery—from barren pass to grassy valley floor—is captivating. Camp by the river, feeling a great sense of achievement.

  • Trekking: ~20km, 7-8 hours, +480m / -730m.

Day 6: The Grand Finale – Yaha Pass & Sunset on Konka

  • Morning: Trek through patches of rhododendron forest (spectacular if blooming in May-June) towards the final high pass, Yaha Pass (4,900m). The views of the entire Minya Konka massifunfold before you.

  • Midday: Descend to Yulongxi, where you bid a heartfelt farewell to your horsemen. Transfer to a vehicle.

  • The Climax: Drive up to Zemey Pass (4,550m). Here, you are face-to-face with the main peak of Minya Konka (7,556m), only 5km away as the crow flies. This is one of the closest and most accessible grand views of the mountain.

  • Evening: Wait for sunset. As the sun dips, watch in awe as the peak transforms into a glowing "Golden Konka." This is an unforgettable photographic and spiritual moment. Afterwards, drive down to a simple guesthouse in Yulong Valley.

  • Trekking: 11km, 4-5 hours.

Day 7: Sacred Grasslands – Tagong & Lhagang Monastery

Day 9: Valley of Beauty – Four Girls Mountain (Siguniangshan)

Day 10: Panda & Return – Wolong to Chengdu
